9/11 - 5 Years Later

September 11th, 2006 by PreZ

So here we are on the anniversary of September 11th 5 years after. The impact it had on our contry was huge and unmeasurable. That one day changed this country forever. It sent us into war with afghanistan and arguable into war with Iraq. Besides that 9/11 had a huge impact on the people of america. We have a new thing to be scared of “Terrorism” like the Cold War it has brought our attention to people outside of our country that hate us and want to do us harm. It has also made us live differently. Now when i go to the airport all I can think about is being searched and to not have anything remotely dangerous on my person. I am also mildly afraid of flying now because what if there is another attack? It could happen now even with security at high levels.

freedom-tower.jpg5 years later the site of the World Trade Center is just a construction site. One would think that by now they would have done more to the site but you think to yourself maybe they are still planning on what to do with it. Are the new plans for the site really set in stone? Wired News has a great story on the new Freedom Tower and some excellent pics.

The 1776-foot Freedom Tower is the most symbolic of four buildings planned on the former World Trade Center site. The design fortifies the building against another attack — a steel and concrete core supports the structure and a wide staircase egress route is separate from the entry for emergency workers in case disaster strikes again.

The architects claim the new Freedom Tower can withstand the impact of a fully fueled airplane.

5 years later and America carries on past this tragedy and loss of life. We will never forget the ones lost or that infamous day 9/11 that made a mark on millions of Americans.
