Fullsize Homemade Flight Simulator

Filed Under (Cool Stuff, The Blog Experiment) by PreZ on 09-02-2006

Matt Sheil decided he really wanted to have his own flight sim so what does he do, he builds one of course. This is a pretty impressive flight simulator one the military would be proud of.
“In 1998 I began the design and constuction of my 747-400 simulator.

The approximate size of the simulator is 13ft wide x 11ft long and 9ft high.
It will include every switch and panel in the 747-400.
The Simulator has been built to accept full motion and visuals at a later date.”

Matt Sheil is obviously intelligent to make a homemade simulator. I guess he have a lot of background and experience is fixing flight simulators in the past. I’m really curious on how much is the cost for making this flight simulator. Do you know much this would cost?

That is some serious equipment being used right there and those hydraulics are very expensive plus it is computerized controlled.
