This isn’t the usual type of thing that I post here on my blog but its something that has been bothering me lately. Spam chain emails. I get enough general spam from companies on the net that I despise. I only have 5 main emails that I use but on avergae I pull in about 100 spam emails a day (yes I use spam filtering software). The worst type of spam is the type that you get from people you know.I get them from my family and friends but one particular person that comes to mind is my dear sweet mom. She loves me a ton and I love her just as much. She has always stood by my side through thick and thin and is one of my main inspirations for living. But, she has a problem… spamming chain emails. She is a first class spamaholic. I really believe that she sends these out wholeheartedly to inform her friends and family of news and just to keep in touch, but this is a bad way to keep in touch.

So by now youre asking me whats the point of this all? I took it upon myself to write out a well thought out email to everyone on my moms email that forwarded the message that eventually got sent to her and then to me (yeah I know im going to catch hell for it). The email I sent to everyone is below. It gets straight to the point and doesn’t beat around the bush. I am hoping that my Mom and her friends change their ways… Id be happy if it just changed my Mom to be honest. If you know somebody that is doing this go ahead and use my email i dont mind.

You gotta stop sending chain emails mostly they benefit a single person that starts them and in reality its just spam to everyone else. Some of these chain letters say things like “something good will happen to you tonight” if you complete the chain and pass it on. In reality it doesnt matter if you send them or not nothing is going to change in your life because of an email of this nature. Sending spam to your friends is bad internet etiquette.

I plead with you now to change your ways. If you do feel the need to spam people please spam people you do not know. Not your friends!

Pass this on to everyone you know as the LAST EVER CHAIN EMAIL YOU WILL SEND. Make them the promise that you will not fill up their email boxes with useless garbage. They will love you more in the end for this trust me. Your friends want to hear from you so please continue to email them to catch up on your lives and personal events not spam.
